The Diversity and Inclusion Youth Conference (DIYC) is a global educational youth movement that was inaugurated by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Raja Zarith Sofiah, Permaisuri Johor,  in 2012. DIYC seeks to gather the youth together to understand how the values and practice of moderation, among themselves, can have a significant contribution towards peaceful co-existence in a multi-ethnic and multi-religious environment.

By bringing together youth from various countries, this conference seeks to dissect and analyse the varied, multifaceted and evolving meanings of what it takes to create and maintain the peaceful co-existence between communities in their respective countries.

During the conference, participants will acquire the knowledge and tools to strengthen their ability to communicate across differences, interact with one another and look at diversity as an asset for cross-fertilization and inter-cultural exchange from which mutual trust; better understanding and a global mindset can emerge and proliferate. The outcome from the conference will be shared and disseminated to various regional and international higher learning institutions and agencies, especially if the discourse is rendered into a form of memorandum.

The DIYC Committee has established a fund devoted to increasing diversity within and beyond the community. Eligible students and young adults are invited to apply for conference grant awards to attend the DIYC 2018. The winners will receive worth up to MYR 3000 to be used to cover conference-related expenses which includes lodging, food, and conference registration.

The Award is open for students and youth within Malaysia and throughout the region of Asean. All applicants should explain how their participation at the conference can help to advance the DIYC’s goal of enhancing diversity and inclusion among youths in their respective countries and communities.

The selection of successful awardees will be made by the local organising committee, who will inform successful recipients prior to the Conference.
